Meetings

We meet on Wednesdays. Most Wednesdays we meet at the Fishers American Legion at 9091 E. 126th Street at 7:00pm with our pre-meeting happening at 6:30pm.

On the last Wednesday of the month, we have PLC where the Scouts plan their weekly meetings and campouts. PLC meets at 6:30pm. The Troop Committee meets at 7:30 on that same day.

School holidays will affect our meetings. If there is a school holiday in the HSE Schools, we will not meet.

Occasionally we will meet offsite. In that case, look at our homepage to see where we are meeting. Also our calendar will be updated to reflect the alternate location.

Fun

We try to have fun in Scouting. That is what scouting is about......right? I bring that up often at the PLC. Sure the Scouts all have advancement goals but I challenge them to have fun while ranking up and fun has to be baked into the plans. 

Some info about us

We are a smaller troop but that is not a bad thing as it gives Scouts more opportunities for leadership roles (this is important as rank advancement beyond First Class requires a significant amount of time in a position of leadership).

Flags

We are often referred to as the "Flag Troop". We do at least two flag retirements a year at the Fishers American Legion. We also sell flags via the https://www.troop303flags.com/ website. We are also now in charge of raising/lowering/retiring the flags for the City of Fishers.

Service opportunities in which we participate

Food Drives, Toys for Tots, Clean up at the Legion, Christmas cards for the elderly at the nursing home, the Fishers Bicycle Rodeo, and the Fishers Agripark are just some of the opportunities we have participated in for service

303 - Boy's Troop
We have been a troop since August 2001.  Our Scouts participate in the Order of the Arrow and Firecrafters (I am an Arrowman and a Firecrafter myself). We have had a total of 43 Eagle Scouts in our Troop since 2001. We have 2 currently pursuing their Eagle rank this coming year.

3030 - Girl's Troop
We have been a Troop since February 2023. We were founded by Maegen Fleck, David Sklorenko, and Jeff White

Camp

We are going to Summer Camp every year.

Scouters

We love having parents volunteer but do not expect you too (especially in your first year). We will not discourage you either. If you want to jump in feet first, go right ahead). We have about 15 adult volunteers in the Troop right now and a lot of them are at most every campout (though that is not expected).

Hiking

We love going for hikes.

Future Events

We also have monthly campouts planned (including our new scout campout in the Spring which will be on the same ridge at Ransburg where we will be for Summer camp). We have a crew going to Seabase and are currently planning a trip to Philmont.  

Scouting Heritage

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was founded by Chicago publisher William Boyce on February 8, 1910. At that time in the US, there were several other loosely structured outdoor-oriented youth organizations, some using the name “Boy Scout” and some using other names, and there were already a number of troops in existence using some variation of the British Scout program.
